About this site
1The「CREDITS」
CREDITS stands for Clinical Research EDucation and Interactive Training System.
It is continuous a systematic education & training curriculum for clinical researchers and specialists.
1) Introduction
This is a multiple learning system where users can participate in e-learning programs, apply for seminars etc. The site also provides a life-long learning and training curriculum, aimed at nurturing clinical researchers and specialists, thereby ensuring development of collective capabilities of researchers based on global standards.
Each user’s learning history is recorded on the system, so that participant can keep track of their attendance. Reminders are sent prior to expiration of validity period enabling users to continue with their learning. Moreover, the system encompasses knowledge of clinical research based on global standards which is useful when conducting global clinical trials.

2) Background
Conducting clinical trials requires expertise in safety and statistical issues, and knowledge of data management in addition to ethical considerations.
Lack of appropriate expertise can result in an enormous workload, sometimes in research misconduct. To ensure the quality and reliability of the clinical study, there is a pressing need for continuous and systematic education of clinical research professionals.
Cooperation between researchers and other professionals (such as CRC, biostatistician, data managers, monitors, auditors and ethic committee members) is vital to ensure the reliability of clinical research. Therefore it is essential to build a baseline training curriculum for all professionals involved in research.
According to the Ethical Guidelines for Medical and Health Research Involving Human Subjects enacted in April 2015, , education and training for clinical researchers and others who will be involving clinical research has been emphasized more than before. “ Investigators, etc. shall receive education and training on the ethics of research and on knowledge and skills necessary to carry out the research prior to its implementation. They shall also receive education and training during the research period on a regular basis as necessary.”
Based on the background above, The Clinical Research Center (CresCent) (of the University of Tokyo) has been working with relevant departments to set the curriculum and the National University Hospital Clinical Research Initiative(NUH-CRPI) to set the learning objectives and syllabus.
Also, together with the University Hospital Clinical Trial Alliance launched a learning management system jointly with the 8 universities in the Kanto Koshinetsu region, in June 2015.
This is how our e-learning curriculum: Continuous Systematic Education & Training Curriculum for Clinical Researchers and Specialists (CREDITS) was developed.
